Mt Ida RMNP June 2011

June 29, 2011

There is more to the park than Chaos Canyon! One of my favorite things to do on a rest day or before work is to get out into the park somewhere besides the beloved boulders.  Most of my hiking was done with snowshoes in the winter months because I was so reluctant to give up a day of climbing. But now that we started to go Hueco in the winter I’ve got to get it all in.

--today Jen and I crashed the Mt Ida party.

Mt Ida, RMNP

2411 feet of elevation gain

9.5 miles round trip

Milner Pass trail head--coming from Estes drive up and over Trail Ridge Road, from Grand Lake it is 4.2 miles pass the entrance station.

One of my favorite things about this hike is a little after one mile you are out of tree line washed in fantastic views of the alpine terrain and the Rocky Mountains.
